As of 1 March 2024, Australia applies strict border controls on vaping goods. However, there is a traveller exemption that allows you to bring a limited quantity for personal use without a prescription.
What you can bring (personal use, no prescription)
Vape devices (reusable only): Up to 2 devices
Vape accessories (pods, cartridges, coils, etc.): Up to 20 items
Vape liquid (with or without nicotine): Up to 200 mL total
All items must be in your accompanied baggage and genuinely for your own use. The exemption does not require a doctor’s prescription.

What is not allowed
Disposable vapes (single-use, non-refillable devices) are completely prohibited — you cannot bring them in under the traveller exemption, regardless of quantity.
Bringing items for someone else, or any commercial purpose, is illegal without appropriate permits.
If you need more than the exemption allows
You would need a valid prescription from an Australian-registered doctor and would need to use the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) personal importation scheme, which has separate requirements and quantity limits based on a 3‑month therapeutic supply.

These rules are uniform at all Australian entry points (air and sea). For the most recent updates, always check the official TGA website or consult an Australian Border Force officer before travelling.
